Chain length changes where a pendant sits, so it is worth picking the length before the pendant. Our chains are made in 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 and 36 inch lengths, and finished necklaces in 16, 17, 18, 20, 22, 24, 30 and 36 inch lengths.
Where each length sits

| 12 to 14 inches | Close around the neck. Usually a children's length. |
| 16 inches | At the base of the neck, like a choker on most adults. |
| 17 to 18 inches | On or just below the collarbone. The most popular length for a pendant. |
| 20 to 22 inches | Below the collarbone, at the top of the neckline. |
| 24 to 26 inches | Mid-chest. Works over a collar or a high neckline. |
| 28 to 36 inches | Long enough to layer, or to double over as a shorter strand. |
Measure a length you already like
Take a necklace that hangs where you want and lay it flat in a circle, then measure all the way around, including the clasp. That total is the length to order.
A heavy pendant pulls a chain down slightly, and a thicker chain adds a little length of its own. If a pendant is large, one length longer usually hangs better.
